Abece

A vocabulary trainer for your phone and tablet

Learn words, one letter at a time.

One clue for every letter. The answer starts with that letter. Pass what you don’t know yet and come back to it before the time is up.

See how a ring works
Today’s ring in Abece, with band A1 and a three-day streak. Every letter from A to Z sits on its own bead around the ring. A solved letter is a solid dark bead, a passed letter an open ring, a missed letter a bead with a small cross on its edge. The cursor, a larger bead with a halo, is on K. The clue reads: You drink it hot in the morning. It is black or brown. The answer is “der Kaffee”.

How a ring works

  1. One clue per letter

You go from A to Z. Each letter gives you one clue, and the word you are looking for starts with that letter.

  2. Pass and come back

Not sure? Pass. The letter stays open and comes around again after Z.

  3. Beat the clock, or don’t

The daily ring is timed. Practice rings are not, so you can take as long as you like.

After the ring

The ring is the drill. The review is the lesson.

After each ring you see every word you missed or passed, with its meaning, an example sentence and audio, and for German nouns the article and the plural. Missed words come back in later practice rings.
